The weekend began with an informal supper hosted by the Leather Livery Companies of London. Guests enjoyed a private dining experience at Middletons Hotel, followed by drinks and a relaxed opportunity to build connections and strengthen fellowship.
Saturday started with a guided tour of York Minster, led by Minster Guide Alison Norman. After lunch, the afternoon was free for sightseeing and socialising. In the evening, members and guests gathered at the historic Merchant Adventurers’ Hall for the Annual Dinner. A three-course meal was served, featuring a trio of salmon, harissa-spiced lamb, and pear and walnut tarte tatin, followed by coffee, tea, and handmade chocolates.
Charter Day on Sunday opened with a formal procession from Bedern Hall. Masters, Clerks, and other robed officials made their way to All Saints
Pavement, for the annual service. Afterwards, guests returned to Bedern Hall for a reception and formal photograph, before concluding the celebrations with a well-attended Charter Day Luncheon.
The Deacon Convener extends sincere thanks to all who contributed to such a memorable weekend. It was a fitting celebration of tradition, fellowship, and the enduring heritage of the York Cordwainers, while also strengthening ties with the Seven Incorporated Trades of Aberdeen.
