Warm congratulations to Ian A. MacIntosh, who last night was appointed as the 179th Deacon Convener of the Seven Incorporated Trades of Aberdeen – a role that carries centuries of civic tradition and pride.
The Deacon Conveners appointment marks some extraordinary milestones including being the first member of the Aberdeen Fleshers Incorporation to hold this position of office in 75 years, and being the youngest Deacon Convener in approximately 50 years, bringing fresh energy and vision to the role.
With deep respect for heritage, the position of Deacon Convener, in line with traditions observed in other major cities, grants Mr MacIntosh the honorary title of Third Citizen of the City of Aberdeen – a distinction that dates back centuries as part of the city’s formal civic hierarchy.
