Aberdeen Fleshers Incorporation Boxmaster, Ian MacIntosh, has set himself the target of raising a minimum of £1,000 for charity as he prepares to take on the Dublin Marathon.
The event, which takes place on Monday, October 28th 2013, will be Ian’s third taste of a marathon, having completed the Edinburgh and Loch Ness versions in recent years.
Ian will be raising funds for national children’s charity Whizz Kidz, which provides mobility equipment for disabled children and helps them lead independent lives.
He said: “Although I regularly take part in charity runs, such as the Whole Hog, I wouldn’t class myself as fit. I do have some unfinished business with the marathon distance and I’m looking forward to setting a respectable time. I’m also proud to be raising funds for such a great cause.”
Master of Trades Hospital, Sandy McKinnon, is pictured presenting Ian with a cheque towards his chosen charity. The monies were raised during a charity prize draw at the recent Aberdeen International Youth Festival, which was held at Trinity Hall in July.
Update: Ian successfully completed the Dublin Marathon in a very respectable time of 5 hours, 4 minutes. He would like to thank everybody for helping him to smash his fundraising target, although his page https://www.justgiving.com/Ian-MacIntosh-Whizz will remain open if you would like to make a donation. All proceeds will go to Whizz Kidz.
