Clerk Ledingham 1888

  • 1855 – Born at Aberdeen 29th April.  Son of James Ledingham , M.A., School Master, Aberdeen, and Margaret Johnstone, his wife.
  • Educated at  Aberdeen Grammar School.
  • Apprenticed to Alexander Edmond, Advocate, and John O Macqueen, S.S.C., Edmonds and Macqueen.
  • Apprenticed to James Milne C.A. for five years and qualified as Chartered Accountant.
  • 1886 – Became a partner with Alexander Kemlo, Advocate, the firm being Kemlo and Ledingham, and in 1890 became a partner in the firm of Edmonds and Ledingham.
  • 1882 – Married at Longside on 10th August,  with 3 Sons and 5 Daughters
  • 1888 – 28th March, he was the successful applicant out of sixteen applicants for the post of Joint Clerk and Assessor to the Seven Incorporated Trades of Aberdeen which position he held until his death in 1917.
  • 1890-96 – President of the Society of Chartered Accountants in Aberdeen.
  • 1907 – President of the Society of Solicitors for three years.
  • 1917 – Died 31st July.
